Ronnie resents her father and has no intention of being friendly or even talking to him for the summer. But after meeting a handsome guy and beginning to fall in love, Ronnie starts rediscovering her love for music, something she shares with her father. Reconnecting with music revives a kinship with her father which proves to be the most important relationship she may ever experience.

My Review: This film is the very definition of a weepy! It was just so full of emotion it was almost too much at times, verging on the cheesy! But once you get over how very cliched it is you actually start to enjoy it.
It definitely grew on me and I even ended up in tears in the last act. I shouldn’t be surprised as I loved the book, but I was - mostly because I’m not much of a fan of Miley Cyrus but she surprised me. Sure, her mannerisms were sometimes quite irritating and her lack of experience shows at times but she gave an empathetic and real performance that fits the part rather well.
It was beautifully shot too, taking full advantage of the beach scenery. The warm sunsets reflecting the warmth of heart that the film had - a great big heart that you can’t help but get swept up into and carried away by the romance and drama of it all.
It’s just a lovely sweet film that will do me just fine on a rainy afternoon thank you!
Score: 8/10
